Living in the foothills of the Appalachian’s, I find myself a part of the serenity of the small community of Vail. Here, I fulfill the need to work with my hands in the wonderful medium of clay and find the never-ending knowledge and creativity this art affords. My pottery at Gallery 23 consists of functional pottery that is microwavable, oven-proof and dishwater safe. The glazes I choose are earthy. I also love working with leaves in the making of leaf plates and small bowls. I’ve made several sets of dinnerware and will take custom orders including setting up a wedding registry. In addition to exhibiting at Gallery 23, and being part of several shows a year, my most ambitious endeavor is a weekend Christmas show I have had in my home since 1991. This particular show, which is open to the public, is held every November and is a combination of not only my work but the work of other artisans of different talents. Another contribution to this show is my development of new clay headed Santa’s. These little collectible add an element of whimsy to my use of clay. Contact info: barbgdonat@gmail.com
