Bernice-Marie Yates

       

Bernice-Marie Yates retains a Ph.D. in fine arts and American history from Union Institute, Cincinnati, Ohio. She has been a photographer for more than 30 years, specializing in equine fine art photography. She has photographed many equine venues from Western fine arts to the highest ranking thoroughbreds in the nation. Among the thoroughbreds she has photographed are Rachel Alexandra, 2009 Preakness and Haskell winner; Summer Bird, 2009 Belmont Stakes winner and Musket Man, third place finisher in the 2009 Kentucky Derby.

  
Her photographs have been published in Horse News and she was a contributing photographer to the book Clark Farm. Her 2010 publication Summer at Oceanport provides the viewer with a photographic glimpse to Monmouth Park from behind the scenes to the million dollar classic race: the Haskell Invitational.  She has been the recipient of many local photographic awards.
 

Her work has been on exhibit at the Somerset Art Association’s Johnson Gallery, Bedminster, New Jersey and is on permanent exhibition at the Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame and Museum in Aiken, South Carolina and Gallery 23, Blairstown, New Jersey.
